DJ JASON KNIGHT
Jason has shared the decks with artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Sander Van Doorn, DJ Lange, Cosmic Gate, Blank & Jones, John 00 Flemming, Taj, Flash Brothers and Pole Folder. He’s appeared at the 2006 Ultra Music Festival and Miami’s Winter Music Conference 2007. He also played the first Vegas Music Conference in 2006, is an integral member of the Coda SF Dance Music Collective and continues to be a key player at all the major clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
His trance remix of “Virtual Spectrum” landed on Rapid Response Recordings in early 2007, gaining a positive review from Christopher Lawrence.
His feverish production schedule found another 3 song EP released in the Spring of 2008 titled Thermal which was soon followed by the White Remixes, the summer hit single off of Thermal that includes 3 remixes by prominant producers in the bay area. Jason’s command of his style and his ear for the future has him poised to unleash his music upon the global dance community.
NIKITA
WWW.DJNIKITA.COM It wasn’t too long ago that NIKITA ventured out from Denver, Colorado to pursue his dreams of working in the music industry. A lifelong love affair with music began as a young boy playing piano, singing and dancing… It wasn't until later later in life when Nikita attended a warehouse party that would change his life forever (Circa 93’) - Nikita became one of Denver’s ‘underground party-scene offspring’! In 2000, Nikita left Colorado for California… In the past eight years Nikita’s perseverance and pure love for quality dance music has placed him among the top DJs of San Francisco’s world-famous club scene. In 2005 Nikita was chosen to host his own radio show on Northern California's Energy 92.7 FM – The Massive Mix. It was Nikita’s raw talent that also landed him a residency at San Francisco's legendary nightclub, The EndUp. Performing anywhere from 2 to 8 hours; Nikita's playfulness behind the decks takes you on a ride seamlessly blending sick minimal grooves, heavy basslines, melodic synths, and twisted beats, while still keeping it soulful and deep. Nikita has played along side the likes of Lee Burridge, Steve Lawler, Steve Bug, M.A.N.D.Y., Tom Stephan (Superchumbo), Craig Richards and Damian Lazarus, with inspirations coming from friends like Ms. Honey Dijon, Tedd Patterson and Danny Tenaglia. Through his broad musical taste and genre bending, Nikita has always managed to create a unique dance floor experience that continues to draw a diverse audience. Nikita is currently working on his own music productions, so be sure to look out for his releases in 2008.
DJ SAMER
Literally a one man band, Dj Samer manages to run the Pangea Recordings, Pangea UK, and 1Shot labels, as well as their digital counterparts, all while producing under the Evrydaydowners guise, Djing, and also holding a day job.
It all started for Samer in 1996 at Club Simon's, located in Gainesville, Florida. There, he became exposed to the best dance music acts in the world. His discovery of electronic music made him realize that it was his destiny to be involved in the dance scene in some sort of way. Late night house parties and a passion for the music gave him a drive to learn to Dj and to begin collecting records.
After some hard work and alot of practice, things started to come together. Samer left Gainesville for Tampa to finish his education, but took his love for the music and records with him. His growing collection of House, Progressive, and Trance began to form a style that became known in the local club scenes in Ybor City, the center of Tampa's nightlife. There, his high-energy style began to catch the ears of the club goers and his name slowly started to become known. Samer remembers “It was tough making a name for myself where Flrida Break-beat was the choice of music at the time.”
Samer later met his former producing partner, Bill Vines aka The Maji, at Chakra Records, a small records shop in Ybor City where they both ended up working. Bill took Samer under his wing and taught him the basics of producing and more advanced mixing concepts. After producing their first track, they became known as Evrydaydowners. Pangea Recordings was then born. From there, Evrydaydowners made their first impression on the international dance with their first EP “A New Beginning”. “Quality wise this was a first production, but I remember receiving a compliment from Brother Brown at the WMC. That's when I knew we were heading in the right direction,” Samer says.
After a couple of years in Tampa, Samer became impressed with the scene and way of life in California after a visit. In January of 2002, he packed his bags and moved to San Diego to pursue his career in music and in law. The scene there was tough to penetrate but he slowly became known from his productions along with his DJing. There he grabbed opening slots for well-known international Djs such as, Pete Tong, Chris Fortier, DJ Dara, and Spesh. Evrydaydowners was also making a name production wise. Samer recalls at WMC 2003, at around 11:00 am at Club Space, hearing Sasha play “This World,” Evrydaydowners’ latest production, and Pangea Recordings first record to be distributed worldwide. Another treat was hearing Sasha play Chris Lake's remix of Joshua Collins "Project 3" during the Ultra Music Festival during the same WMC, which was signed to be Pangea Recordings second release. This was another sign for Samer that his work was finally going somewhere and he was destined not just to be part of the scene, but to help mold it.
With the success of Pangea Recordings, Samer decided to expand the company by adding 1- Shot Recordings, Pangea UK, and digital spawns for them as well. “The San Diego scene was pretty chill compared to LA and San Francisco, which allowed me to get a lot of work done and allowed me to release more records.” Samer says. “Also, i got so many great demos it was tough to stay focused on just progressive music. I needed another outlet to release other types of tunes, and that’s why we formed 1 Shot.”
After graduating law school in San Diego, he decided to move up to Northern California, where he now resides. His productions and Dj sets have earned him respect in the scene amongst dance music lovers, high profile Djs and producers all over the world. Currently, Samer and his partner are producing tracks for the label, as well as other worldwide labels and artists. “ The most exciting part of this is getting to play at the 2005 Love Parade in San Francisco. This is one spot where we show the world that we got some love to share as well.”
Recently, Samer was lucky enough to play at the Ultra Music Festival in 2007 during the Winter Music Conference with such acts as The Cure, Sasha and John Digweed, Rabbit in the Moon, and others. Also, Samer was confirmed for Love Fest 2007 in San Francisco along side Sasha, Chris Fortier, Lee Burridge and Three to name some of the world-class talent. It is safe to say that Samer is one of America’s most upcoming under rated DJs and that he has a bright future ahead of him with his label, his mixes, and his productions.
DJ Hil
http://www.myspace.com/hilhuerta
Hi Huerta was introduced to club music in the early 80’s by his cousin, Eddie Garcia (aka Eddie Def). He began DJing on a set of used decks when he was 11 years old.
By 1986, while still in middle school, Hil had begun throwing and promoting parties, playing a mix of freestyle, hip hop, and early house music.
Hil’s drive and love of dance music has not abated. Now one of the Bay Area’s top promoters and still a top-notch DJ, Hil is know for his eclectic house music sets, ranging from funky cuts to electro-fueled tech house to progressive grooves. Of course, says Hil, “I still have all of my old stuff, so you never know when I might throw in something classic.”
Of course, all of this musical diversity serves a purpose. While some DJ’s will play a singular type of music to a crowd that’s not enjoying it, Hil has a deeper appreciation for dancers and wants to make sure everyone has a good time. As he says “I play every level of house music, just to keep the crowd moving.”
In his continuing quest to keep the crowd moving, Hil divides his time between DJing, running a successful promotions company, and work in the studio. He is currently producing music with Homero Espinosa of Yerba Buena Discos.
